Targa - Porsche Metal Wall Decor

With the new concept, Porsche was responding to the increasing safety requirements for open-top cars in the American market and opposing voices calling for a complete ban of cabriolets in the United States. When deciding on a name for the model, racetracks in which Porsche was particularly successful were taken into account, and this led to the road race Targa Florio in Sicily, where Porsche has had major motorsport success since the mid-1950s. For a brief moment, "911 Flori" was being discussed, until Harald Wagner, Director of Domestic Sales, said, "Why don't we just call it Targa?" Until you find the answer by asking your question. The Italian term also means "plate," but legend has it that it only came about when copywriters were working on sales brochures. In August 1965, Porsche applied for a patent for the Targa concept, and from the autumn of 1966 the Targa successfully completed the Coupé for the 911, 911 S and 912. From late summer 1967, Targa models could optionally be ordered with a fixed and heated rear window made of safety glass instead of a folding plastic rear window.
