1991, November… The grunge band Nirvana, who had just released their second album, Nevermind, at the big record company Geffen, started to attract the attention of the masses. It was spreading rapidly even in Central Europe, which was stunned by the cultural and economic constraints of the Cold War. Less than two years after the Berlin Wall fell, the neighboring Netherlands hosted this extremist group in Paradiso, Amsterdam, on 25 November.
The band was originally going to play at The Old Hall's Melkweg club, but the venue's 700-person capacity was insufficient for this band. Instead the concert was moved to Paradiso. The 1991 concerts represent the band's transition from more aggressive Bleach era songs to songs like 'Lithium' and 'Come As You Are'.
'From the Muddy Banks of the Wishkah', Nirvana's live album released in 1996, consists of the band's live concerts. You can listen to 'Blew' from the 25 November 1991 Paradiso concert on this album.
