In 1890, Asteri, a Greek captain, opened a tavern in the Balat bazaar and joined this tavern. He named it "Agora", which means "square" in Greek. The Agora Tavern Poem, written by Onur Şenli, a 19-year-old Ege University Faculty of Medicine student, became the subject of a poem read by many artists, from Müzeyyen Senar to Zeki Müren, and became the subject of a work that would become a work loved and known by everyone.
