The photo was taken by Art Kane (Arthur Kanofsky), who was known for his provocative, experimental and entertaining style and even some of his photos were rejected by magazines because of nudity and disrespect. Art Kane, who took the photo of The Rolling Stones for McCalls Magazine in 1966, made a reference to the Beatles in this photo shoot and planned a 'Bad Boys' themed photo of The Rolling Stones. On the morning of the photo shoot, he bought postcards of Queen Elizabeth II from a gift shop while leaving the hotel. He knew that the band members would do something disrespectful with these photos and took these photos. As a result, of course, McCalls did not publish these photos, stating that they were disrespectful.
